Using Composite View to Determine Application Status

Learn how to use Composite View in NMLS to monitor and review the status of your company’s license application across multiple jurisdictions.

About this task

The Composite View feature in NMLS allows you to track your company’s license applications and understand regulator updates across multiple jurisdictions. After submitting a Company (MU1) filing, you can use Composite View to:

  • Check the current status of each license application.
  • Review status history and regulator comments.
  • Access license items and associated requirements placed by regulators.

This view consolidates status updates, external notes from regulators, and pending license items in one location, helping you identify any actions needed to move a license to approval.

Procedure

  1. Navigate to the NMLS Login page (State Context).
  2. Log in to your NMLS account.
  3. Go to the Composite View tab and select View Company.
The State License/Registration List displays a summary of your company’s license applications, statuses, and license items.
  4. Review the Status column to see the current status of each license application.
Note: Refer to the License Status Definitions to understand license statuses and suggested next steps.
  5. Click a license name under the License Name column to view the Status History.
Note: Status history provides a timeline of changes made by regulators, including any external notes with instructions or comments.
  6. In the License Items column, click the linked number to view outstanding items associated with that license.
Note: Each license item may include regulator-provided details, external notes, and instructions on documents or actions required.
  7. Address any outstanding license items promptly to keep your application on track for approval.

What to do next

Common post-submission statuses include:

  • Pending Review: Your application is under review by a regulator.
  • Approved-Deficient: Your license is approved but has conditions that must be met.
  • Incomplete: Missing information or unresolved deficiencies require attention before processing continues.

Refer to the License Status Definitions for detailed definitions and next steps for all license statuses.
