Providing Books and Records Information

List the location(s) where the company’s books and records are stored, along with contact details and related information, in the MU1 filing.

About this task

Use the Books and Records section of the Company (MU1) Form to identify the location(s) where the company’s books and records are stored, and the contact person(s) at those locations. Multiple custodians may be listed, with each assigned by industry type(s) and state(s). Use the Comments field to describe the types of records maintained at the location. Procedure

  1. Navigate to the NMLS Login page (State Context).
  2. Log in to your NMLS account.
  3. Select Filing > Company (MU1) from the menu.
    The Company Filing screen is displayed.
  4. Select Create New Filing.
    The Company Form (MU1) opens, beginning on the Business Activities screen.
  5. Open the Books and Records section.
  6. Select Add.
  7. Complete all required fields, including company name, address, and contact person details.
  8. Select the applicable Industry Type(s) and State(s).
  9. Optional: Enter details in the Comments field to describe the types of records maintained at the location.
  10. Select Save.
  11. Repeat to add additional Books and Records locations as needed.
    Note: To update or remove an existing record custodian, select the Edit icon and make changes, or delete the record.
