Identifying Financial Institutions

Learn how to complete the Financial Institutions section of the MU1 form by listing banks, credit unions, and other financial entities affiliated with your company.

About this task

Complete the Financial Institutions section of the Company (MU1) Form only if your company is controlled by a financial entity such as a credit union, bank holding company, savings association, or other similar institution. Do not use this section to enter information about institutions used for corporate banking. If completed, you must also upload an Organizational Chart/Description in the Document Uploads section.

Information in this section is entered manually and is viewable on NMLS Consumer Access. Refer to the NMLS Policy Guide for authoritative guidance.

Procedure

  1. Navigate to the NMLS Login page (State Context).
  2. Log in to your NMLS account.
  3. Select Filing > Company (MU1) from the menu.
    The Company Filing screen is displayed.
  4. Select Create New Filing.
    The Company Form (MU1) opens, beginning on the Business Activities screen.
  5. In the left navigation panel, select Financial Institutions.
  6. Click Add to open a new entry form.
  7. Enter all required information about the controlling financial institution.
    Note: You must complete each field manually. A company search tool is not available in this section.
  8. Click Save to confirm the entry.
  9. If applicable, upload an Organizational Chart/Description in the Document Uploads section.
