Institution Completes MU4R on Behalf of MLO
Initiate and complete an MU4R filing for a Mortgage Loan Originator (MLO), then release it for attestation and submission in NMLS.
About this task
An institution can initiate and complete sections of the MU4R on behalf of an MLO. Once released, the MLO must attest to the information before the filing can be submitted and paid. After attestation, the institution can review redlined changes and submit the MU4R if acceptable.
Procedure
- Navigate to the NMLS Login page (Federal Context).
-
Log in to your NMLS account.
Note: If you are landed on the NMLS Connect screen, select NMLS Federal Registry in the Quick Links section.
-
Select the Federal context, if the
Context screen is displayed.
Note: Be sure you are in the Federal context by selecting Federal from the You are currently drop down list. Your screen should display the Federal Registry watermark.
- From the NMLS Home screen, click the Filing tab.
- Select MU4R Filing from the sub-menu.
- On the Pending Filing - MU4R screen, click Create New Filing to create a new filing, or click the edit icon to open an existing one.
- Complete the available sections of the MU4R by selecting each section from the left navigation panel.
-
When ready, click Attest and Submit, then click
Request Attestation to send the filing to the MLO for
attestation.
Note: The MLO receives an email notification to attest to the filing. Once attested, the institution also receives an email notification.
- After the MLO attests, log in to NMLS to review the filing. Redlined changes will be visible for institution review.
- If the filing is acceptable, click Submit to file the MU4R. If corrections are needed, click Recall and repeat the filing steps.
- Remit payment for the filing. See Paying MU4R Fees for details.
