Automatic Confirmation of Employment by NMLS

NMLS can automatically confirm an employment record after receipt of a clear Criminal Background Check (CBC) result, provided required conditions are met.

NMLS can automatically confirm a pending employment record once a clear Criminal Background Check (CBC) result has been received for the MLO. Automatic confirmation ensures that registration is completed efficiently without requiring the institution to manually confirm employment.

For automatic confirmation to occur, the following conditions must be met:
  • The pending employment record was created through a filing submitted by the institution associated with the employment.
  • The institution has an active MU1R filing status.
  • An employment start date has been provided for the record.
  • No subsequent filings have been submitted by the individual or another institution after the employment record was created.

Once an employment record has been confirmed automatically, it is removed from the Manage Employment Records Pending Confirmation list, and the MLO becomes actively registered with the institution.

Institutions do not need to wait for NMLS to confirm employment automatically. They can manually confirm employment as soon as fingerprints are submitted. However, if the institution relies on the automatic process, the registration date may occur later, depending on the time required for fingerprint processing.
