Uploading Documents on the Individual MU4 Form

How to upload documents to the Individual MU4 Form.

Before you begin

To ensure you are uploading the correct document types, refer to the Agency Guidance section of the Individual MU4 Form and Appendix 4: Document Upload Descriptions and Examples.

About this task

Note: NMLS does not provide the ability to upload all documents a state agency may require. Do not upload documentation into NMLS that is not available for selection..

Procedure

  1. Navigate to the NMLS Login page (State Context).
  2. Log in to your NMLS account.
  3. Navigate to your MU4 Filing.
    • If you already have a license and need to make an update, select Update Record from the Actions section.
    • If you already have a filing in progress, select the MU4 Filing link under My Tasks.
    • If you are completing a new license application, select the Add New License button.
    An MU4 Form is opened.
  4. Select the Agency Guidance link on the left navigation panel.
  5. Review the agency guidance provided for the licenses that are a part of your Individual MU4 Filing.
  6. For the requirements that are submitted by "NMLS Upload," click Add New Document.
  7. Provide a short description and upload the relevant file.
Note: Only documents permitted by state agencies relevant to your license(s) can be uploaded. Document must be a PDF file that does not exceed 15 MB.
  8. Select Save.
Note: NMLS scans uploaded files for viruses. This process can take up to 10 minutes to complete. You cannot submit the filing until the virus scan is complete. If a virus is detected, remove the document and re-upload a virus-free version of the file.

Results

The document is added to your filing. You can manage uploaded documents in the Document Library section of the Individual MU4 Form.
Note: See About the Document Library for more information on what regulators and company users can view in NMLS.
