Requesting Additional Individual Licenses

Understand how to request additional state licenses or registrations using the MU4 filing in NMLS.

If you already hold an individual license or registration and wish to apply for additional licenses, you must complete a new MU4 filing using your existing NMLS record. This process is similar to filing a new application but focuses on adding new license selections instead of starting from scratch.

The MU4 form will retain your existing information, but you’ll have the opportunity to select new licenses, jurisdictions, and to update relevant sections if needed. All new state-specific requirements for the added license(s) must be satisfied.

After the additional license filing is submitted and fees are paid, state regulators will review your submission just like a new application.
