Before you apply for an individual license or registration in NMLS, there are a several tasks you need to complete.

Granting Access to Your Company

Provide your company access to your NMLS record so that they can sponsor your license (if their license is managed through NMLS).

About this task

If an individual already exists in the system and this individual wishes to have a license sponsored by their employer, the individual must provide company access to their record before a company can view the individual’s record and establish a relationship with the individual.

Through this process, individuals always stay in control of their record in NMLS.

If an individual no longer wishes for a company to have access to their record, they must remove company access. Removing company access to an individual’s record is separate from ending a relationship with a company. An individual must do both if they wish to prevent a company from viewing their record.

The system prohibits Company Access from being removed by an individual if an active Relationship or Sponsorship with the company exists.

Sponsoring a License

Procedure

Obtain your company's NMLS ID.
Navigate to the NMLS Login page (State Context).
Log in to your NMLS account.
Select the Company Access tab on the My NMLS screen in NMLS Connect.
Search for the company NMLS ID number or the exact name of the company and click the Search Icon.
Click the Grant Access link for the desired company.
The selected company now has access to your NMLS record.
Notify your company that access has been granted so they can sponsor your license. See Getting Sponsored by Your Employer for more information.
