Troubleshooting Common Issues with NMLS Annual Renewal
This topic outlines common issues that may prevent successful license renewal in NMLS and offers guidance on how to resolve them.
During the NMLS annual renewal period, users may encounter a variety of system or eligibility issues that prevent them from submitting or completing their renewal request. This topic provides an overview of those issues and how to resolve them.
Common issues include:
- Ineligible license status: Only licenses in an eligible status can be renewed.
- Continuing Education (CE) not completed: Required CE courses must be completed and reported in NMLS to be eligible for renewal.
- Outstanding agency fees: Any outstanding Agency Fee Invoices (AFIs) must be paid to clear renewal blocks.
- Prevent Renewal Flag: Agencies may place a flag on your license that blocks renewal due to compliance issues. Contact the relevant agency to resolve.
- Unverified Identity Verification status: You may need to resubmit credit authorization in the MU4. See Resolving an Unverified Identity Verification Status for Individuals.
- Fingerprint issues: If there is a CBC fingerprint exception, follow the steps in Resolving CBC Fingerprint Exceptions for Individuals.
- Do Not Renew setting: If a license has been marked as Do Not Renew, you must recall it.
If none of the above apply and issues persist, contact the NMLS Call Center for support.
