Requesting a Branch License or Transition

Learn how to request a branch license or transition an existing license onto NMLS.

About this task

Before requesting or transitioning a license, review your agency’s requirements in the State Licensing Checklist Compiler and gather all required information and documents before starting a filing.

Procedure

  1. Navigate to the NMLS Login page (State Context).
  2. Log in to your NMLS account.
  3. Select Filing > Branch (MU3) from the menu.
    The Branch Filing screen is displayed.
  4. Select Create New Filing.
    The Branch Search screen is displayed.
  5. Enter search criteria and select Search.
    The Branch Search Results screen is displayed.
  6. Select the desired Branch ID hyperlink.
    Note: If the branch record does not yet exist, select Create Branch to create it before starting the MU3 filing.
    The Branch Form (MU3) opens, beginning on the Business Activities screen.
  7. Select the checkboxes for the licenses you want to request and click Next.
  8. Optional: If you are transitioning an existing license onto NMLS, enter the Existing License Number provided by the licensing state agency and click Next.
  9. Click Continue with Filing.
    The Identifying Information screen is displayed.
