Changing Employers
Explains how to update your employer in NMLS using an MU4 amendment filing.

Procedure
Step 1: End Current Company Relationship
The individual or company can end the existing relationship.
- Select the Relationships & Sponsorships tab on the My NMLS screen in NMLS Connect.
- Click the End Relationship button for your current employer and enter the relationship end date.

Select Save.
Note: This action removes any existing sponsorships. Your license status may be affected until your new employer submits a sponsorship request.
Step 2: Grant Access to Your New Employer
- Grant access to your new employer. See Granting Access to Your Company for more information.

Your new employer will:
- Create a relationship with you
- Submit a sponsorship request for your licenses
Note: After your employer creates a relationship with you in NMLS, you receive an email notification to review and submit your MU4 form to reflect your new employment.
Step 3: Confirm Changes and Submit Your MU4 Form
After your employer has created a relationship with you in NMLS, you must confirm the new employment information and submit your MU4 form.

Select Update Record in the Quick Links
section in NMLS Connect.
The MU4 Form is opened.
- Select the Identifying Information link in the left navigation panel.
- Confirm your contact details are accurate. Your contact details may change with your new employer, and they should be updated to reflect this change.
- Select the Employment link in the left navigation panel.

Review your employment history.
Note:
- Your previous employer displays an end date matching the relationship and end date you entered in the Relationships & Sponsorships tab on the My NMLS screen in NMLS Connect.
- Your new employer appears as a current employer with a start date matching the relationship created by your company.
- Select Save.
