Renewing Individual Licenses or Registrations
Renewal is the annual process of verifying, updating, and affirming your license information in NMLS to maintain your active status for the next calendar year.
State-licensed individuals must renew their licenses in NMLS between November 1 and December 31 each year. This ensures their licenses remain active for the upcoming year.
See the Renewal for Individuals self-paced e-learning course for a step-by-step walkthrough of the entire renewal process in NMLS.
- Reviewing and verifying the accuracy of your information in NMLS
- Completing Continuing Education (CE) requirements as required by the state
- Confirming that your Criminal Background Check (CBC) and credit report are up to date
- Completing the required attestation for each license
- Paying applicable renewal fees and any outstanding invoices
You may only renew licenses that are in a renewable status. If any license items or deficiencies exist on your record, they may need to be resolved prior to renewal.
Failure to complete all steps before the deadline may result in a license status change or the need to request reinstatement in January.
