Fingerprinting for Non-US Residents

How individuals residing outside the United States, Guam, US Virgin Islands, or Puerto Rico complete fingerprinting for an NMLS Criminal Background Check (CBC) using Fieldprint fingerprint cards.

Before you begin

Ensure the CBC request is submitted and paid in NMLS and shows Pending Fingerprint.

About this task

Non-US residents must use Fieldprint fingerprint cards to fulfill NMLS CBC requirements. Livescan is not available for non-US residents.

Fingerprint cards can only be shipped to the individual who needs to be fingerprinted at their current mailing, physical, or employment address that is listed on their Individual MU2, MU4, or MU4R Form.

If the requested shipping address does not match the information in NMLS, Fieldprint will not send the packet. NMLS representatives will notify the individual to correct their NMLS account address or to provide Fieldprint with an alternate shipping label.

Note: Before beginning, the CBC must be paid in NMLS and its status must be Pending Fingerprint.

Procedure

  1. Navigate to the NMLS Login page.
  2. Log in to your NMLS account.
  3. Go to the fingerprint scheduling section of NMLS.
    • If you are a state-licensed individual, select Schedule Fingerprints in the Quick Links section.
    • If you are a federally registered MLO, select Composite View > View Individual > View Criminal Background Check Requests > Schedule Your Fingerprinting Appointment

    Note: Fieldprint is the NMLS approved fingerprint vendor. From the Fieldprint website, a user can set a fingerprint appointment or reschedule an existing appointment.
  4. Create or access your Fieldprint account.
    1. Click Sign Up and accept the E-Sign Act Closure and Consent Agreement.
    2. Enter the required information and click Continue.
    3. Retrieve the verification code sent from auth@fieldprint.com and complete registration.
    4. Log in with your new credentials.
  5. Select processing options.

    On the Additional Licenses and Processing screen, choose the option that applies to your situation:

    • State for Florida and/or Hawaii
    • Federal Registrants
    • Nothing above is my case
  6. Enter your personal information and accept required notices.
    1. Provide all required personal information and click Continue.
    2. Read the Biometric Disclosure and select I agree.
    3. Read the FBI Privacy Statement and Privacy Notice and select I agree.
  7. Request fingerprint cards and complete scheduling.

    Because you are a non-US resident, choose the option to receive fingerprint cards by mail rather than a Livescan appointment. Confirm the shipping address matches the address in your NMLS MU4 or MU2 form.

    1. On the scheduling screen, follow the prompts to request fingerprint cards.
    2. Review the details and click Finish Scheduling.
  8. Complete your fingerprints on the cards and return them per Fieldprint instructions.

    Follow the card kit instructions for completing fingerprints and mailing. Do not alter the name or address fields on the cards. If you have questions, contact Fieldprint at (877) 614-4361.

Results

Fieldprint will process the returned fingerprint cards and transmit the results to NMLS for your CBC. Processing times may vary. Monitor your CBC status in NMLS.

If your address was updated after requesting cards, contact Fieldprint to resolve delivery before resubmitting a request.
