About this task

See Company Relationship and Sponsoring a License for authoritative information on relationships and sponsorships in NMLS, including remote worker definitions. Follow the steps below to create a relationship with an MLO in NMLS and sponsor their license.

Procedure

  1. Navigate to the NMLS Login page (State Context).
  2. Log in to your NMLS account.
  3. Select the NMLS Connect tab.
You are navigated to the NMLS Connect home screen.
  4. Select the Manage People icon on the left navigation panel.
  5. Search for the desired individual and Select the hyperlinked Individual Name.
  6. Select the Relationships & Sponsorships tab.
  7. Click the Create New Relationship button and complete all required fields.
Note: Relationships that are active as of April 18, 2026 populate the Employment History section of all corresponding individual forms (MU4, MU2 and MU4R). An individual must attest to their form after the relationship is linked to the form and before the employment record appears on NMLS Consumer Access.
The system notifies you that the relationship has been created and the screen refreshes.
  8. Click the Request Sponsorship button.
  9. Select the desired license you want to sponsor and click the Sponsor License(s) button.
Note: There is no charge for first-time sponsorship in NMLS. Sponsorship fees include a $35 processing fee combined with State Agency sponsorship fees. Follow the prompts on the payment screen to remit payment.
A confirmation screen appears and an email is sent to the individual.
