Requesting Access to an MLO Record

Learn how a company user can request access to a Mortgage Loan Originator (MLO) record in NMLS.

About this task

Requesting access is a critical step for establishing a professional relationship with an MLO, enabling the company to manage the MLO's license information and submit filings on their behalf. The process includes locating the MLO in the system, submitting an access request, and understanding the approval workflow. Access must be granted before a company can take licensing actions or associate the MLO with their company record.

Procedure

  1. Navigate to the NMLS Login page (State Context).
  2. Log in to your NMLS account.
  3. Select the NMLS Connect tab.
    You are navigated to the NMLS Connect home screen.
  4. In Find People section, search for the MLO and request access to their record.
  5. Click the Request Access link for the desired MLO.

Results

The MLO is notified of the access request and must log in to NMLS to approve the access request.
