Reporting and Oversight for Surety Bond Producers

Introduces reporting and notification tools that allow Surety Bond Producers to monitor electronic surety bond (ESB) activity, reconcile data with internal systems, and stay informed about NMLS events.

Surety Bond Producers can access several NMLS tools that support oversight and recordkeeping for their electronic surety bond (ESB) activity. These include downloadable reports containing detailed bond data and automated notifications that alert users when key events occur. Together, these tools provide transparency and help ensure data consistency between NMLS and the producer’s internal surety management systems.

The reports available through the Reports tab in NMLS allow Surety Bond Producers to view transaction history, verify bond statuses, and export bond-level data for reconciliation. Standard report definitions and field descriptions are available in the following reference files:

Available report types

Surety Bond Producers have access to two primary reports in NMLS:

  • Surety Bond Transaction Report: Returns all transaction events for bonds where the producer was the broker of record at the time of the event. Events include signatures, deliveries, cancellations, reinstatements, bond returns, revised form bond issuance, and other lifecycle actions. The report can be filtered by company, date range, or event type.
  • Surety Bond Producer Roster: Lists all active and historical bonds where the producer is identified as the broker of record. Includes bond details such as licensee name, NMLS ID, bond amount, effective date, status, underwriter, form version, and indicators for conversion or revision requirements.
Note: Reports can be filtered by date range, regulator, license type, surety company, or bond status. The maximum date range for transaction reports is 30 days and cannot include future dates.

Report content and usage

  • Use the Surety Bond Transaction Report to monitor lifecycle events such as delivery, cancellation, reinstatement, or regulator returns for bonds where your organization served as broker of record.
  • Use the Surety Bond Producer Roster to maintain a complete listing of active and historical bonds, including any requiring revised form issuance.
  • Export both reports to Excel for offline sorting, filtering, and integration into your organization’s internal tracking systems.
  • Review Converted and Revised Form Bond Required indicators to identify bonds that were converted from paper or require updated bond forms under new regulatory versions.

Notifications and oversight

Automated notifications are distributed to Surety Bond Producers and other authorized users when bond status changes occur. These messages help producers respond quickly to regulator returns, rider requirements, and revised form bond obligations.

Note: Notifications are automatically sent to Account Administrators. Organization Users can also subscribe to applicable system notifications under the Admin tab.
