User Accounts and Profiles
This section introduces individual user accounts and profiles in NMLS, including how accounts are created, managed, and updated. It provides an overview of related tasks and explains where users can find detailed instructions for completing common account and profile activities.

  If you are a Mortgage Loan Originator, Control Person, Qualifying Individual, or Branch Manager, you need an NMLS Account to create and attest to your record in NMLS.

Editing Account Information

How to edit your NMLS user profile information, including contact information and notification email address.

Procedure

Navigate to the NMLS Login page.
- State context.
- Federal context.
Log in to your NMLS account.
Access your user profile. See Accessing Your User Profile for steps.
Select the Edit Info button for the desired account from the User Profile screen.
Make the desired edits.
Select the Save Changes button.

Note: You cannot update the name for an individual NMLS account from the User Profile. You must submit a filing for that change. If you are a state-licensed MLO, see Filing Amendments to the Individual MU4 Form for more information.
