About the Document Library

Document requirements are determined by the specific license requirements outlined in the Agency Guidance section of your MU4 filing. There are no standard documents required for every application; required uploads vary depending on your agency’s licensing guidance.

Document security

All your documents uploaded to NMLS are encrypted for protection

Who can view uploads in the Document Library

  • Individual applicant: You have full access to view your own uploaded documents without restrictions.
  • Company user: After the MU4 submission, a company user whom you have granted access will have access depending on the document type and user role:

Regulator user

Can view documents only if the filing relevance 1exists. Additionally, their access depends on document type and user role:

1 Filing Relevance: A regulator has filing relevance if:
  • The individual branch is submitting a license or transition request to the regulator's agency.​
  • The individual or their associated company/branch currently holds an active license with the regulator's agency.​
