Company Licenses Description Requirements Checklist
Exempt Company Registration Registration is required of companies that employ or contract with a mortgage loan originator, that are otherwise exempt from licensing as a mortgage lender/broker or a mortgage lender. (More Details)
Money Transmitter License This license is required for any entity that who engages in the business of receiving money for transmission or engaging in the business of money transmission, by any and all means including but not limited to internet or other electronic means, money order issuers and sellers, travelers check issuers and sellers, providers and sellers of “Pre-Paid Access; or acting as a bill payer. Mortgage Broker License This License is required of any company or sole proprietorship, who for compensation, or in the expectation of compensation, assists a Wyoming resident in obtaining or applying to obtain a residential mortgage loan or holds himself out as being able to assist a Wyoming resident in obtaining or applying to obtain a residential mortgage loan. Mortgage Lender/Broker License This License is required of any company or sole proprietorship who makes residential mortgage loans to Wyoming residents or holds himself out as able to make mortgage loans. Wyoming Lender/Broker licensees can conduct both mortgage lending and mortgage brokering activities. (More Details)
Pawnbroker License Pawnbrokers are entities that lend money on the security of pledged tangible personal property, or the act of purchasing tangible personal property on the condition that it may be redeemed or repurchased by the seller for a fixed price within a fixed period of time. Entities must be properly licensed if business is conducted in Wyoming at a physical location in the state or with consumers in Wyoming through other means such as telephone, mail, internet, etc. W.S. 40-14-342 and W.S. 40-14-634
Post Dated Check Casher License Post-dated check cashers (payday lenders) are entities that lend money in which a check or draft is dated on a date subsequent to the date it was written or dated on the date written but held for any period of days prior to deposit or presentment due to the check casher's agreement with or representations to a debtor, whether expressed or implied. Entities must be properly licensed if business is conducted in Wyoming at a physical location in the state or with consumers in Wyoming through other means such as telephone, mail, internet, etc. W.S. 40-14-342 and W.S. 40-14-634
Sales Finance Company License Sales finance companies are entities whose only business is purchasing retail installment sales contracts which have been originated by a retail creditor and/or providing financing in behalf of sellers or lessors for consumer credit sales and/or consumer credit lease transactions. Entities must be properly licensed if business is conducted in Wyoming at a physical location in the state or with consumers in Wyoming through other means such as telephone, mail, internet, etc. W.S. 40-14-342 and W.S. 40-14-634
Supervised Lender License Supervised lenders are entities that regularly engage in extending consumer credit by originating supervised loans and/or taking assignment of supervised loans. Lenders holding this license can also purchase retail installment sales contracts originated by a retail creditor. Entities must be properly licensed if business is conducted in Wyoming at a physical location in the state or with consumers in Wyoming through other means such as telephone, mail, internet, etc. W.S. 40-14-342 and W.S. 40-14-634

Individual Licenses Description Requirements Checklist
Mortgage Loan Originator License This license is required of any individual, who for compensation or gain, or in the expectation of compensation or gain, takes a residential mortgage loan application or offers or negotiates the terms of a residential mortgage loan, for any dwelling located in Wyoming.
