Release Notes and Public Roadmap
NMLS Prioritization Process
Introduction
There are two components of the prioritization process for software changes to NMLS:
-
Enhancement prioritization process - the mechanism for which features get prioritized; and
-
Release prioritization process - the mechanism for which these prioritized features and other software changes get prioritized for a System release.
Enhancement Prioritization Process
Potential enhancements are identified from a number of different sources including:
-
Release Feature Meetings (RFM)
-
-
Regulatory and Industry Working Groups
-
Feedback from the NMLS Call Center
-
Open Forum Conference Call
-
SRR Staff
-
Training Sessions with State Agencies and Industry Representatives
-
Surveys; including Annual Regulatory and Industry Prioritization Surveys
-
-
Unsolicited Feedback via Email/Phone
SRR produces the Top General Enhancements list and the NMLS Development Roadmap which are reviewed during the Release Feature Meeting by participating state agencies and are formally approved by the NMLS Policy Committee (NMLSPC).
Release Prioritization Process
Determining the content of a specific System release must take many factors into consideration. Sources considered when comprising the content of a release include:
-
NMLS Development Roadmap
-
Technology Improvements
-
Problem Reports
-
Top General Enhancements
-
System Care & Feeding
To communication upcoming System releases to the appropriate parties, a Release Portfolio (located below) is complied to announce the targeted release date and contains enhancements and problem reports that are officially targeted. Typically the Release Portfolio is made available approximately two to three months prior to release. There is no absolute guarantee that everything contained in the document will be implemented with the release.
Final release notes (located below) are distributed approximately two to three weeks prior to the actual release date.
