Company Licenses Description Requirements Checklist
Mortgage Broker Act (“OMBA”) Certificate of Registration This registration is required of any person that does any of the following: holds themselves out as being able to assist a buyer in obtaining a mortgage and charges or received from either the buyer or lender money or other valuable consideration for providing this assistance; solicits financial and mortgage information from the public, provides that information to a mortgage broker or person that makes residential mortgage loans and charges or receives either money or other valuable consideration; or a person engage in table-funding or warehouse-lending mortgage loans that are first lien residential mortgage loans. Mortgage Broker Act Credit Union Service Organization (“CUSO”) Exemption This approved exemption is required of any CUSO which utilizes the services of other than registered loan originators or employs their own loan originators. (More Details)
Mortgage Broker Act Mortgage Banker Exemption This approved exemption is required of any person that makes, services, buys or sells residential mortgage loans secured by a first lien, that underwrites the loans and that holds at least one of the following approvals: HUD FHA nonsupervised mortgagee; FNMA seller/servicer; FHLMC seller/servicer or VA nonsupervised automatic lender. These entities are exempt from the Mortgage Broker Act only to the extent that the business they engage in is authorized by one of the above approvals. Mortgage Loan Act (“OMLA”) Certification of Registration This registration is required of any person that does any of the following: advertise, solicit or hold out that the person is engaged in the business of making residential mortgage loans secured by a mortgage on a borrower’s real estate which is other than a first lien; engage in the business of lending or collecting the person’s own or another person’s money, credit or choses in action for non-first lien residential mortgage loans; or employs or compensates mortgage loan originators licensed or who should be licensed under the Ohio Mortgage Loan Act. Branch Licenses Description Requirements Checklist
Mortgage Broker Act Branch Registration This registration is required for every office to be maintained by the mortgage broker for the transaction of business as a mortgage broker in Ohio other than the main office identified on the Mortgage Broker Certificate of Registration,. A registrant is required to maintain an office location in Ohio for the transaction of business as a mortgage broker. (More Details)
